2010 Hindi Movies - a Roundup: Another year has come and gone, yes 2010 is almost over and as usual this year was also packed with interesting news, events in Bollywood. Bollywood saw some surprise hits and flops and here is a run down of 2010 Hindi movies.

2010 saw myriad directors trying to claim their share in the Box Office collections, some were successful, others failed. Many big banner movies tanked at the box office while many small budget movies made a considerable impact at the collections. 2010 was an year for Brainless nutcrackers which claimed most of the success while movies in which countless million rupees were invested failed to recover their money. One such brainless nutcracker that made a real surprise hit at the box office is Debangg starring Salman Khan, directed by debutant Abhinav Kashyap. Also Golmaal 3 which belongs to the same category made its good share at the box office.

A true political potboiler Rajneeti directed by Prakash Jha has potrayed the most complex and unpredictable life of a politician and also got lot of critical reviews for its uncanny resemblence to Nehru-Ghandi family. My Name is Khan is another movie that touched upon the most debated subject i.e. profiling based on religion due to the recent terror attacks.

This year also saw some remakes, Housefull, said to be a remake of Tamil hit Kaathala Kaathala was shot mostly in Italy and as the title suggested, the theatres were housfull as this was total entertainer. One of the most anticipated movie which tanked to the bottom at the box office is Mani Rathnam's Raavanan. Made in 3 languages simultaneously, starring big shots like Aishwarya and Abishek failed to bring the magic Mani used to have in his earlier movies. It is said to be Mani's own interpretation of Ramayanam but for the audience it was total flop. Another movie that spent millions but never made past the first week in theatres is Kites which saw Actor Rithik Roshan and his father, director Rakesh Roshan together and was shot fully in Las Vegas.

This year marks the first time in Bollywood history that two Brainless nutcracker movies have grossed more than 100crores (22million USD) at the box office. There are few trend setters and controveries which is a healthy thing in the movie industry as long as the controveries are taking in the right spirit. Political parties as usual twisted arms of certian movie stars and hope this culture doesnt grow and 2011 brings even more quality movies.
