A R Rahman Strikes Gold at the Grammy's

The Mozart of Chennai, A R Rahman has added to his impressive haul of awards and accolades for the track "Jai Ho" with a double win at the 2010 Grammy awards. His music for the Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire has won all the prestigious awards for music and now he has completed a full circle by taking home two Grammy. The award for best compliation for "Jai Ho" was shared with song write Gulzar and Tanvi Shah who wrote the Spanish lyrics for it.


"This is insane, god is great again," Rahman said as he accepted his second award before a VIP audience. Rahman won the first Grammy in the pre-show event at the Staples center and his song "Jai Ho" won the best motion picture song moments later. It is a great achievemnt to win a Grammy in a category where Bruce Springsteen was also nominated for his song "The Wrestler" from the movie with the same title. Some of the other prestigious awards won by A R Rahman include the Oscars, BAFTA, a Critic Choice Award, Golden Globe and now the music industry's biggest honor - the Golder Gramophone (Grammy). Congrats Rahman.. you make us proud to be an Indian.
