Cast: Jeeva, Ajmal Ameer, Karthika Nair, Piaa Bajpai, Prakash Raj, Sona Heiden and others, Directed by K V Anand, Music by Harris Jeyaraj,Produced by Jayram and distributed by Red Gaint Movies.
Rating: *** - The usual masala!.

Director KV Anand's second picture and after the success of a total masala entertainer Ayan, Anand decided to take the same path and produce yet an another masala mix with a different story line. And right during the elections in Tamil Nadu this movie has a story line related to politics and election. In the past there were several such movies that bring the youth as the game changer in politics and this movie hasnt tried anything different.

Ashwin (Jeeva) is a photographer for a news daily and along with him Saro (Pia) and Renu (Karthika Nair) are journalist and they as a team try to get all the breaking news and the latest happening news. Vasanth (Ajmal) is an engineer but he aspires to become a politician and looking at his good intentions, his friend Ashwin, through his good contacts, gets Vasanth into politics. As usual, after getting into a good position in politics, the corruption bug bites Vasanth too and he turns in to a corrupt politcian and distances himself from Ashwin.

Vasanth joins with Yogi (Prakash Raj), the cheif minister who is also very corrupt and in an unexpected turn of events, Saro gets killed in a bomb blast. Seeing all this, Ashwin decides to bring down Vasanth using the same political contacts he used to bring vasanth up. Vasanth gets upset by this and decides to take revenge and what happens next, who wins this game is be seen in the big screen.

Since we set the stage earlier that this is a total masala movie, there is nothing more to add about this movie. Director has tried his level best to show a different view of photojournalist and also the aspect of showing humans as demi gods. Jeeva and Ajmal fit in their role perfectly and have done the role at ease. It is encouraging to see kollywood is finally adapting Hindi movie trend of dual heros and we see more often such movies. Usually there will be one such movie once in 5years or so but now we have this movie and soon Avan Ivan to be released and couple of other movies in the pipeline.

Lot of reviews have praised Harris Jeyaraj music in this movie. I beg to differ, songs are no where close to Harris standard. It is a total let down by Harris. Karthika Nair's debut in Kollywood and she has done her role at ease. Pia should be happy that she go this role. Another commendable performance is our Prakash Raj, it is a delight to watch him perform and he just gets better in every film and doesnt seem to stop. Overall a masala movie worth watching only if you have nothing else to do. Review by - 'Cinema Pakkam' AK
