Director A Jawahar has paired with Dhanush again and tried to bring out a hit movie like the earlier ones but this time it hasnt gone that well. Remake of a Telegu movie Arya that was released in 2004. After almost 6yrs, the director hasnt tried anything different in the storyline or screenplay to fit to the current trend which is a big negative point in this movie.

It is a total college movie, Arjun (Sameer Dattani) is a rich, spoil brat who has the power and money to do anything he wants and the only son of politician Devanayagam (Radha Ravi). Geethanjali (Shreya Saran), a stunner in the same college, is the centre of attraction. Arjun falls in love with Geetha and when Geetha refuses his love, he blackmails and threatens her and she falls in love forcibly.

Now enters our hero, Kutty (Dhanush), an average not so good looking college guy. He also falls in love with Geetha and proposes to her. He learns about Arjun's forcibly love and Geetha tells him to back off. But Kutty doesnt back off and with his fun-loving and easy-going attitude makes him the most popular student in collage and this makes Sameer insecure. The movie moves with this love triangle and who finally wins Geetha's hand is rest of the story. The usual stuff like Arjun's father, trying to get some political mileage by getting Arjun married to someone else, lover eloping etc etc happens in this movie too......



Dhanush has tried his best to inject life into the proceedings with his comic sense. He breathes life into his character Kutty, a simple, shy guy who yearns for love. He is the major factor that makes the film click and one just can't imagine anyone else in this role. Shreya, for once got a break from her glamour role and acted in this movie with cloths covering her body .... and following the trend, Meghna Naidu has done a item number.

Music is definitely a let down. More was expected from Devi Sri Prasad and usually for a college students based storyline, there will be atleast one hit number but this movie has none. Veteran actors Radha Ravi and Mayilsami are wasted in this movie by giving them characters that have no scope. Also the movie never gives a feel that it is a college/students based movie. for example, the sidekicks of Arjun look more like goondas than students. Wonder why the director didnt even think to correct that.

Telegu hit Arya made its hero Allu Arjun an overnight sensation. Will its remake make Dhanush an overnight household name? well Dhanush is already an household name with looks like a next door average guy and this movie has done nothing to either improve or spoil that image. Since this movie was in the making for quite some time, it has lost its color and life.
