Rating: **** - Singam - Roars in the teathres.

After a dismal direction of Seval movie, Director Hari has gone back to his 2 aces and procduced yet another racy movie Singam. One of his ace is the storyline which he had used in his earlier movie Saamy which gave a big break to both Hari and Vikram and the other ace is none other than his favorite hero Surya who has done a fantastic job in this movie.

Now that you know the storyline, you can predict Surya as a police officer, yes, he is the local S.I- Duraisingam who is true to his name, a firebrand of a cop and posted in his native town of Nallur in Tuticorin. His actual desire is to run his family business that converting his father's provision shop into a big departmental store. But his father (Radha Ravi) fantasizes him as a cop and Duraisingam lives up to his father's dream and becomes a cop.

Singam lives at peace with everyone in his village and there are several little sequences that potray how he solves minor disputes amicably with filing any FIR etc and there are several comedy sequences sorround this and Vivek as 'Eatu' Erimalai has done a remarkable job.

Now enters Kavya (Anuskha) who comes to the town to spend vacation with her grandparents and comes across Singam and the usual things happen and they both fall in love, followed by couple of romantic duets. I must say Surya has given a real challenge to other heros who dance well. He has improved a lot. In this quiet story line enters Mayilvahanam (Prakash Raj) a local rowdy running extortion racket and a old murder case brings him back to Nallur where he has a fight with Singam. Singam gets promoted as Inspector and transferred to Chennai but later finds out that it was orchestrated by Mayil. So what happens next, whether Singam teaches a lesson to Mayil is told in a very racy climax that must be watched in the theatre.

Director Hari had taken a big risk in using an old story line but with the racy storyline and some new twists in the plot, he has given worth watching movie. It has already created waves in the box office by creating record ticket sales in UK and USA. Music by DSP is in its usual color and peppy tunes and with Sun TV putting an advt every 30 secs.. this movie is bound to cross all block buster movie box office sales.
